About Jamala Henderson:
Before coming to KUOW, Jamala studied film and video at The Evergreen State college, where she received her B.A. After several years of working in the video field, she began to pursue radio while working for the University of Washington's television station, UWTV. She started off hosting some shows at KBCS, a volunteer radio station over in Bellevue, then worked at the Evergreen Radio Reading Service for several years as a Broadcaster.
Jamala arrived in Seattle at the age of ten. She spent a significant part of her youth playing viola and antagonizing Seattle Youth Symphony and Garfield High conductors. She enjoys crafty stuff like making candles and jewelry, is kind of a geeky sci–fi person, and loves reading everything by Joseph Campbell.
