First Christmas on Candy Cane Lane

Sara Lerner

Last year Heidi Hager and Shaine Gross bought a home on Candy Cane Lane in Seattle. Bruce and Dennis, the couple who sold them the home, didn't choose them because they made the highest offer. It was because they had the most holiday spirit. Since 1949, the neighbors of Candy Cane Lane have put up an elaborate holiday display in the middle of the neighborhood. On Heidi and Shaine's first year on the lane, they're nervous about fitting in. Producer Liz Jones finds out more about the neighborhood traditions and visits Heidi and Shaine to see how they’re managing. The story was first broadcast in December 2005.
