At 2:05 p.m. – Waking up to the Birds of Sequim

The forests of the Olympic peninsula are so dense that the air is still. Sounds are deadened. So, the birds of that area have developed high pitched songs that can pierce the silence. For Bob Boekelheide, those songs are as much as a part of the landscape as the trees. Bob is the director of the Dungeness River Audubon Center. He is so familiar with bird songs, he can see birds just by hearing them.

At 2:20 p.m. – Cliff Mass on the Carl Sagan Legacy

Decked out in his signature turtleneck and sportcoat, the late Astronomer Carl Sagan helped millions and millions of Americans develop a fascination for billions and billions of galaxies. Few scientists have had as high a profile as Sagan. He was a frequent guest on TV talk shows, the author of dozens of books and host of the series "Cosmos" on PBS. Carl Sagan taught the importance and impact of bringing science to the masses to Cliff Mass. Cliff is an atmospheric sciences professor at the University of Washington. His weekly weather forecasts are heard on KUOW. Cliff first met Carl Sagan in a college classroom.
