In this program from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation learn about the assassination and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Excerpts include what CBC listeners heard on the night of King's assasination – April 8, 1968. Dr. King's death led to a wave of riots in more than 100 cities. Five days later President Lyndon Johnson declared a national day of mourning. Two months later, escaped convict James Earl Ray was captured and charged with King's murder. He confessed and was sentenced to 99 years in prison.
