We share some of our favorite recent broadcasts: The American historian H.W. Brands talks about how hard it is to figure out which events in recent history are the most important. Was the moon landing in 1969 a solar–system–shattering event, or merely a blip that didn't lead much of anywhere? Plus, civil rights lawyer Michelle Alexander takes a look at the history of racial caste in America, and says it's not over yet. She argues mass incarceration of African–Americans is the new Jim Crow. And environmentalist Annie Leonard says we need to stop trying to solve our civic problems by buying stuff. Yes, even if that stuff is compostable, recycled, locally made and fairly traded.
