In Seattle, a few inches of snow inspire words like "snowpocalypse." But just up the road, Mount Baker holds the world record for most snowfall in one year. Cliff Mass, the weather man on KUOW's "Weekday," explains what makes it snow in Western Washington. Stay below the freezing level as you learn all about the meteorology of the Pacific Northwest.

Cliff Mass is an atmospheric scientist at the University of Washington. He spoke at Third Place Books on December 17, 2009.
