Our culture is celebrity obsessed. It's hard to read the paper, channel surf or go online without getting the latest on Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson and Bristol Palin. Turns out that's nothing new. People have revered and bonded over celebrities all the way back to ancient times. The real question is why? What do we need celebrities for? Today, a look at fame from the past to the present.
