When Governor Gregoire vetoed parts of a medical marijuana bill that had been passed by the Legislature last month, legislators asked Attorney General Rob McKenna to clarify the resulting legal quandary. He didn't want to wade into the conflicts between federal and state law. What would it take to make sense of the medical marijuana program in this state? Also, McKenna managed to get more than $2 million added to the state budget this year from consumer protection settlements. Is that the role of the attorney general in these tough economic times?
