Poem: Rebecca Hoogs Reimagines The Dandelion

Elizabeth Austen

A weed is just a flower out of place, as the saying goes. Poet Rebecca Hoogs reimagines the dandelion as a girl impatient for summer's party to begin in her poem "Lion's Teeth."

Rebecca is the author of the poetry chapbook "Grenade," and her poems have been featured in literary journals including Poetry and Poetry Northwest. She is the director of education and the poetry series curator for Seattle Arts and Lectures, and a frequent teacher in the University of Washington's Rome–based writing program. She received an MFA in poetry and an MA in English from the University of Washington. She was recorded in the KUOW studios May 13, 2011.
