Weekday Live: Nancy Pearl And The Bushwick Book Club

"Weekday" is live from Town Hall this morning. Book commentator, Nancy Pearl, joins us to talk about books that inspire readers creatively and academically. Maybe you have a title that changed the course of your life! Email "Weekday" Also, members of the Bushwick Book Club perform original songs inspired by books they have read.

Nancy Pearl is the author of "Book Lust," "More Book Lust," "Book Crush," and "Book Lust To Go." She is a regular commentator on KUOW and NPR's "Morning Edition." She also hosts the Seattle Channel program "Book Lust with Nancy Pearl." In 2004 she won the National Book Association Award for her extraordinary contribution to the world of books. She's also been named Library Journal's 2011 Librarian of the Year. She joins us every month on "Weekday."

Geoff Larson is the curator for the Bushwick Book Club. He has been a musician and music teacher in the Seattle area for over 10 years. He is an upright bass player by trade.

Tai Shan is a singer–songwriter described as a seamstress of melodies. She has been featured on nationally released CDs, international videos and local TV and radio stations.

Nate Bogopolsky and Annie Jantzer form the group Bucket of Honey. Nate performs guitar and vocals. Annie is flute and vocals. Both are devout choir nerds with a dedication to tight harmonies and rhythm. They perform at the Seamonster Lounge in Wallingford on the first Monday of every month.

Moe Provencher and Aimee Zoe make up the group MoZo, which began as a street busking project. They describe themselves as folk–pop and blues meets rock 'n roll, and they do bicycle tours around the world and the US.

Wes Weddell is a singer–songwriter that has been called a modern–day Woody Guthrie by the Seattle Times. He also founded and runs Puget's Sound Productions, a nonprofit dedicated to creating community live–music spaces.

Vince Martinez is a Seattle–based Americana singer–songwriter originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Vince and his band, The Great Blue Yonder, have been performing in and around Seattle for the past two years.
