Bargain brands like "Two Buck Chuck" make wine drinking more casual and affordable, but do discount options undermine the market for sophisticated, regional wines? We'll look at how Washington wineries are trying to compete in today's wine marketplace.

Plus, Nick Bond joins us with a weekend weather forecast.


Mike Veseth is the Robert G. Albertson Professor of International Political Economy at University of Puget Sound where he teaches the popular course, "The Idea of Wine." He's the editor of the blog The Wine Economist and the author of a dozen books, including "Globaloney" and "Globaloney 2.0."

Richard Kinssies runs three wine stores: Greenlake Wines + wine bar, and the Wine Outlet in SoDo and on Elliott Ave. West. He also runs the Seattle Wine School and writes for Wine News, covering the Northwest. Prior to that, he was the wine columnist for the Seattle PI for 27 years.

Sean Sullivan is a blogger who focuses on Washington wines. On his blog, the Washington Wine Report, he reviews the state's wines, analyzes industry trends and discusses wine tourism possibilities.

Nick Bond is the Washington State Climatologist and works at the Joint Institute for the Study of Atmosphere and Ocean.
