What happened to the American Dream? Has the recession and political division made it unattainable and unimportant? Journalist Tom Brokaw hopes to reshape our thinking and encourage civic engagement with his new book "The Time Of Our Lives: A Conversation About America." In a time when many of us have put our dreams on hold to weather the economic downturn, what can we do to reshape our country's future?

Tom Brokaw is the author of five books: "The Greatest Generation," "The Greatest Generation Speaks," "An Album Of Memories," "A Long Way Home" and "Boom!" He joined "NBC News" in 1966 as the White House correspondent during Watergate, and he anchored "Today" on NBC from 1976 to 1981. He was also the sole anchor and managing editor of "NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw" from 1983 to 2005. He has won every major award in broadcast journalism, including two DuPonts, a Peabody and several Emmys. His latest book is "The Time Of Our Lives: A Conversation About America."
