Poet Arlene Kim On Life After The Curse Is Lifted

Elizabeth Austen

Fairy tales and folk tales the world over often revolve around some kind of curse. Poet Arlene Kim imagines what happens after the curse is lifted in her poem, "Curse," from her collection "What Have You Done to Our Ears to Make Us Hear Echoes?" published in 2011 by Milkweed Editions.

Arlene earned a Bachelor of Arts in literature from Brown University and a Master of Fine Arts in poetry at the University of Minnesota. She is the recipient of the 2007 Academy of American Poets James Wright Prize. She lives in Seattle and was recorded in the KUOW Studios January 6, 2012.
