Enfield A Finalist For Highline Superintendent

Ann Dornfeld

The interim superintendent of Seattle Public Schools is a finalist for superintendent of the Highline School District. The Highline School Board announced Sunday that Susan Enfield is one of three candidates for the position. KUOW's Ann Dornfeld reports.

The Highline District includes schools in Burien, White Center, Des Moines and SeaTac. Each finalist will spend one day next week visiting the district, with a community forum each evening. The other candidates are David Engle and Joshua Garcia. Engle has been a school principal in the Seattle, Bellevue and Bellingham districts. Garcia is assistant superintendent of Federal Way Public Schools. Highline says the district hopes to announce its choice by March 1.

Last week the Bellevue School District told Susan Enfield that she is a strong candidate for that district's superintendent position. The Bellevue School Board said it would expedite the interview process for her. Bellevue is holding three public input sessions on the superintendent search this week.

Enfield has been Seattle's interim schools superintendent since March of last year. She replaced fired superintendent Maria Goodloe–Johnson. Enfield has said she does not want to be a candidate in Seattle's search for a superintendent. Her contract expires in June.
