Dance Critic Alice Kaderlan: Crossing The Modern-Ballet Divide
When it comes to trying something new, people have their comfort zones. They know what they like and what they don't like. Seattle dance critic Alice Kaderlan often hears that feeling expressed when it comes to modern dance versus classical ballet. Alice says that while audience member often express strong preference for either ballet or modern dance, performers and choreographers have a different take. That experience got Alice thinking more about the modern–ballet divide. She speaks with KUOW's Dave Beck.
