Wash. Legislature Goes Into Second Overtime To Pass Budgets And Reforms

The Washington Legislature adjourned at 7:30 this morning after missing a midnight deadline to wrap up a 30–day overtime session. Governor Chris Gregoire was forced to declare another emergency session. That allowed the legislature to continue working through the wee hours. Here's what lawmakers accomplished overnight. They closed a half–billion dollar budget gap. They also approved a package of public works construction projects to create jobs. In addition, the "go–home deal" included a series of controversial government spending reforms. Olympia Correspondent Austin Jenkins has this wrap–up.
