Annette Cottrell: Leaving The Grocery Store Behind

Jeannie Yandel

In 2008, Annette Cottrell reached a turning point. She was no longer OK with feeding her family industrial, processed food from the grocery store. So she made a resolution to get her husband and two small boys off industrial food by 2009. She worked to transform her small north Seattle house into an urban farm. She got chickens for eggs and rabbits for meat. And she did all of this while trying to keep her family from being inconvenienced or affected. Annette talks with KUOW's Jeannie Yandel about why she worked so hard to change her family's diet, and why she spent so long doing it alone.
