William Dietrich: Author William Dietrich's work ranges from environmental history to Napoleonic adventure thrillers. He joins Steve Scher to talk about intrigue, adventure and writing.

'Weekday' Archive — Amitav Ghosh: Amitav Ghosh is a Bengali Indian author whose current trilogy explores India, China and the opium trade in the 19th century. He joined us on "Weekday" in October of last year to talk about "River of Smoke," the second book in the series, following the first installment, "Sea of Poppies."

William Dietrich is a Northwest novelist and journalist. His latest book is "The Emerald Storm," the most recent in a series of historical novels called the Ethan Gage Adventures.

Amitav Ghosh is author of books including "The Glass Palace," "Sea of Poppies" and "The Imam and The Indian." In 2007, the government of India awarded him Padma Shri, and, in 2009, he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. His newest book is "River of Smoke," the second novel in his Ibis trilogy.
