Poet Dorothy Trogdon And 'Desire, Like A Hungry Lion'
In her poem "Desire, Like a Hungry Lion," Dorothy Trogdon writes:
yet something sees and knows and waits
until you open your door and go forward to meet it,
to offer what has been taking shape within you.
The poem is part of her debut poetry collection, "Tall Woman Looking" published by Blue Begonia Press earlier this year. Trogdon is in her mid–80s, so she knows about waiting before offering "what has been taking shape within you." Nearly all of the poems in the collection were written in the last five or six years.
Trogdon has a degree in art history from Wheaton College, and she earned a masters of architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design in the late 1940s. She will read from "Tall Woman Looking" on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 3:00 p.m. at Open Books in Seattle.
Her reading was recorded in the KUOW Studios on June 21, 2012.
