The SPD And Race: Negotiations between the city and the Department of Justice over how to reform the Seattle Police Department are finished. Now it's a matter of implementation. Public defender Lisa Daugaard was involved in the process. In a recent op–ed she writes, "The question is no longer whether individuals are intentionally targeted for police attention due to race. The issue is whether the Police Department's practices have the actual result of systematically penalizing people of color for behavior that white people engage in with relative impunity. If so, we have a problem." She joins us to elaborate.

Art Of Our City: Seattle Opera General Director Speight Jenkins talks with KUOW's Marcie Sillman about the Opera's summer production of Puccini's grand opera, "Turandot," and its most famous aria, "Nessun Dorma."

Celebrity Encounters: Have you ever met a celebrity or someone you admired? Who was it, and how did you meet? Did the experience live up to your expectations? Were you star struck? Call us 1.800.289.5869 (KUOW).

Lisa Daugaard supervises the Racial Disparity Project at the Defender Association, a King County public–defense office.

Speight Jenkins is general director of Seattle Opera.
