A Bumbershoot 2012 Preview

Weekday kicks off Labor Day weekend with our second annual Bumbershoot preview, featuring music from THEESatisfaction and Sera Cahoone, modernist cuisine from chef Maxime Bilet and a trivia face–off with Ken Jennings and KUOW's Phyllis Fletcher. Plus, festival highlights from One Reel's Chris Weber — essential listening for Bumbershoot–ers.

Modernist Cuisine performs on Saturday from 1:45–2:45 p.m. at the Words & Ideas Stage.

Sera Cahoone performs on Saturday from 3:30–4:30 p.m. at the Sub Pop Stage.

THEESatisfaction performs on Saturday from 5:15–6:15 p.m. at the Sub Pop Stage.

Ken Jennings hosts Trivia Night on Monday from 7–8 p.m. at the Words & Ideas Stage.


THEESatisfaction are Stasia Irons and Catherine Harris–White. Their debut full–length album is "awE natural" on Sub Pop Records.

Chris Weber is the arts programming manager for One Reel and Bumbershoot.

Ken Jennings is the author of "Maphead," "Ken Jennings' Trivia Almanac," and "Brainiac: Adventures in the Curious, Competitive, Compulsive World of Trivia Buffs," about his record–breaking 2004 appearance on the quiz game show "Jeopardy!"

Sera Cahoone is a singer–songwriter who has also performed with Carissa's Wierd and Band of Horses. Her upcoming album is "Deer Creek Canyon" on Sub Pop Records.

Maxime Bilet is the head chef of the Cooking Lab and co–author of "Modernist Cuisine" and "Modernist Cuisine for the Home."

Phyllis Fletcher is an editor at KUOW.

Nick Bond is the Washington State Climatologist.
