Dumping More Waste at Hanford?

Steve Scher

The Hanford site houses 53 million gallons of high-level radioactive waste. The site also houses low-level radioactive waste. The U.S. Department of Energy is proposing to double the total amount of low-level waste buried at Hanford.

How will this affect the clean-up? And how will it affect residents in Northern Oregon and Southwest Washington? Is it a violation of the state compact with the federal government?
