Members of Seattle Baroque reflect on a decade of music-making in Seattle and share music from some of their acclaimed recordings.

At 2:05pm - Seattle Baroque
Some of North America's most gifted period instrument performers play in Seattle Baroque. The ensemble grew out of the 10-year artistic partnership between violinist Ingrid Matthews and harpsichordist Byron Schenkman, co-artistic directors of the ensemble. They join us to reflect on a decade of music making in Seattle during which their careers and the work of Seattle Baroque has come to international attention. They also share music from some of their acclaimed compact disc recordings.

    At 2:30pm - Matt Haimovitz
Internationally celebrated cellist Matt Haimovitz puts away his tuxedo and puts on his blue jeans for a solo performance at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard tonight. There he will perform some of the Suites for Solo Cello by J.S. Bach. In recent months Haimovitz has been performing the Bach Suites in venues more closely associated with roots and rock music rather than classical sounds. He talks about the importance of Bach's music and how it has a special resonance with audiences who are not normally interested in classical music. Matt Haimovitz plays some of Bach's music (he's recently recorded the suites for the first time) live in our performance studio.

Matt Haimovitz's recording is titled J.S. Bach: 6 Suites for Cello Solo on Oxingale Records.
