Medical Marijuana

Steve Scher
06/07/2005 at 10:00 a.m.

The Supreme Court ruled to make medical marijuana illegal, even in the states that have made it legal. The dissenting voices were Justices O'Connor, Rehnquist, and Thomas who favored state's rights over the federalist approach. What effect will this have on patients, their physicians, and law enforcement agents? What does this mean for state's ability to regulate medical practices?

Guests:
Tom Riley spokesman for the office of National Drug Control Policy
Stewart Jay professor of law at the University of Washington
Dr. Rob Killian specialist in Seattle, sponsored the Initiative 692 that became the Medical Marijuana Act
Allen St. Pierre executive national director of N.O.R.M.L. in Washington, D.C.
