Waste Free Seattle?

Seattle has long been a leader in recycling to keep waste out of landfills. But what if waste could eliminated? Could we create a waste free city? Thatís the new cause of Seattle garbage collection agency, Seattle Public Utilties. It the idea of a waste free city just crazy? Or could we actually do it? You can reduce sewage waste with waterless toilets. You can make manufacturers take a product like a computer back at the end of its useful life. You encourage people to swap their stuff. After all, one personís junk can be another personís treasure. Or take paper Ė please! Itís estimated that every year Seattle uses a heap of paper higher than Mount Rainier. What about paperless presentation software? Or at least printing on both sides of paper? Weíll talk about the public policy aspects of making Seattle waste free. But weíd also like to hear from those of you who have made it a personal cause to reduce the stuff you throw out.
