Kids and Technology: Understanding the World

Steve Scher
08/22/2005 at 9:00 a.m.

The recent documentary Born into Brothels told the story of kids living in the Red Light District of Calcutta, India. The featured children were part of a photography project, showing their world through their eyes. This is not the only example of such programs. How are kids using technology to understand their lives and interact with the world? Can media tools change American children in a positive way? Help refugees? Does knowing and using technology media affect their sense of self? Their view of others? How important are such technology programs to the future of the world? What stories are they telling? What projects your children involved in?

Guests:
Warren Ogden is the executive director of the Aja Project in San Diego.
Susan Olivier-Hirasawa is the executive director of Bridges to Understanding
