'The Trouble with Tom'

Megan Sukys/Dave Beck
11/02/2005

Any cynic will tell you that common sense has never been common, and neither is the story of Tom Paine, the radical founding father who wrote such missives as Rights of Man, The Age of Reason, and Common Sense, all while living the life of an outcast and firebrand. Following the mystery of the legend beyond the grave, author Paul Collins brings us The Trouble With Tom: The Strange Afterlife and Times of Thomas Paine. He speaks today with Megan Sukys. Also, in this hour Playwright Charlayne Woodard and Greg Atkinson Cooking Klatch.

Today's Featured Music Selection: Gangbé
Picture the sound of military brass bands, voodoo ritual chants and rhythms, scratchy American jazz records, with a dash of Fela’s Afrobeat, and you can almost hear Gangbé Brass Band. We'll listen to songs from Gangbé throughout the hour.
